In August of 1980 we, Gerry and Carol Thiesen, joined the Conklin Company. The productswere of exceptional quality, and the training was unmatched by any other company in the industry. However, it was the big picture, that of investing our lives into people, that most caught our attention. Based on Gerry’s years of experience in the construction field, we decided to focus on the Building Products Division and set about building our commercial specialty roofing business for the next 28 years. Along the way we got some other people to join us, either by also getting involved with the roofing products or by choosing one or more of the other product divisions.

G & C Enterprises began working from our office in our living room and now has a 3,000 square foot shop and office/training room on 7 acres. The first vehicle we worked out of was our 1976 Chevy van, but the business grew to include multiple trucks, trailers and other equipment. We started with installing roofs on mobile homes and small back yard patios. We soon realized that we wanted to focus on the commercial market. To date, we have installed roofing systems on roofs as large as 7.5 acres and have waterproofed underground buildings as well as ag buildings 120 feet high, Geodesic domes, and walking decks.

We go to training at least once a year, so we can keep up with the latest technology in the roofing industry. We have received all the training offered by the Conklin Company and are now training others.

In 1982 Gerry was installing the metal restoration system before the system was approved and proved that it could be done. This led to the manufacturer's approval of the system along with a 12-18 year warranty.

Also in 1982, Gerry worked with PG&E and helped them develop their energy rebate programs for reflective roof systems.

Seven years ago Gerry developed a bidding program that is being used by contractors across the nation. He conducts a monthly nationwide webinar to train contractors on the use of the program. In a 3-day workshop he teaches contractors how to bid and install roofing systems.
